Grantsburg's Industrial Park will be growing after the village received a federal grant to help pay for building a road and installing necessary water and sewer infrastructure to help boost the economy while growing the manufacturing.
The Burnett County Sentinel reported that the Village of Grantsburg was awarded $1.4 million in grant funding from the Economic Development Administration.
"These federal investments from the Biden administration for the Village of Grantsburg will support efforts to rebuild our infrastructure and move our #MadeinWI manufacturing economy forward. #BuildBackBetter," U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) wrote in a tweet on July 16.
The grant must be matched with $1.2 million in local funds, but the proposed infrastructure projects that would be paid for with these dollars would create or maintain more than 420 jobs for the area, the Burnett County Sentinel reported. According to the same article, the project for North Industrial Park would use grant money and matching dollars to expand on 26 acres of land presently used to grow hay just north of the current industrial park.
Village Clerk Sheila Meyers told the Burnett County Sentinel that money received in the grant has to be used within the next three years.
The village has a population of just over 1,300 people, according to Grantsburg's website.
