With the Winter Olympics only 43 days away, Ben Loomis, the Eau Claire native, is quite excited to be representing the USA for the second time.
"I don't think going to the Olympics ever gets old, it's always going to be special," Loomis said in a video.
Loomis competed in the Olympic trials to qualify for the second time after being a part of the 2018 winter Olympics.
Loomis' first Olympics were more of a shock for the then-junior athlete, but now the seasoned competitor is top in the country for his sports.
"It would be very special to go back to the Olympics representing Eau Claire. I received a ton of support in 2018, I really appreciate that and couldn't be more proud to be from Eau Claire," said Loomis.
Loomis and a fellow Eau Claire native, Andrew Urlaub, did not do well enough in the trials for automatic qualification but are highly likely to be selected to represent the U.S. due to their history and scores from the world competition this past year. Loomis competed in the Nordic skiing competition and Urlaub in the ski jump.
