Fresh off a sweep of their most recent three game road trip, the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire’s women’s lacrosse team remains (9-0) perfect on the season.
“The Blugolds Lax is still on top,” the team said in a tweet March 21. “Big dub against William Penn 19-11.”
Over its three-game trip, UW Eau Claire outscored William Penn, Midland and Culver Stockton by a combined score of 54-20, according to the team’s website.
In their 16-4 win over Culver Stockton at Poulton Stadium in Canton, Missouri, the final game of the trip, the Bluegolds reeled off seven goals in the first period, according to the game’s box score. The freshman duo of Alexie Romaneli and Sammi Burns led the way for the victors with three goals each, while fellow freshmen Rubi Pozorski had a pair of assists.
In the opening period, Eau Claire blitzed Culver Stockton into nine turnovers and only allowed three shots on goal, taking a commanding 10-1 halftime lead, the school’s website reported. In the second period, Eau Claire only allowed 12 shots on goal in the second period and forced 31 turnovers.
The BluGolds return home March 29 to host Edgewood on Senior Night at Simpson Field at 7 p.m.
