The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Fostering Success program is doing even more to positively change lives after cashing in on a $70,000 grant received from the University of Wisconsin System over the summer.
With the added funds now in hand, the Fostering Success program is offering financial assistance and other support to students who have been in foster care or have been homeless since 2019.
“We are working hard on a number of initiatives as we build a program that will help even more students enroll in and be successful in college,” Executive Director for Diversity and Inclusion Jodi Thesing-Ritter said in a news release on Dec. 15. “So many good things already have happened with Fostering Success, and much more is being planned.”
Besides making it easier to connect with students in high schools all across the area, Thesing-Ritter said having access to the additional funds makes it easier to convince high school students in foster care or who are homeless to feel as if pursuing higher education through Fostering Success may be the start to change many of them seek.
Hoping to be able to better connect even more people, especially faculty and students, Fostering Success recently moved into its own office on campus, offering participants in the program easy access to resources for such necessities as clothing and food.
