FOIA Request to Pierce County Regarding Access to Public Records on October 7, 2024.
In our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at WC Wisconsin News have submitted a request for public records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq. The request was sent on October 7, 2024, seeking access to FOIA logs from the county for the period of January 1, 2024, through October 7, 2024.
The requested information includes specific fields such as the requester's name and organization, content of the request, date of the request and its completion date along with the status of the FOIA. This information is crucial in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe that access to these records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also sought a fee waiver as a media professional.
