A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Village of Maiden Rock regarding new voter registrations on November 7, 2024.
The request was made by WC Wisconsin News, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. As part of our commitment to transparency and public accountability, we sought access to public records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq.
Specifically, we requested a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024. Access to these records is essential for us at WC Wisconsin News as it allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We await a positive response from the Village of Maiden Rock as we continue our mission of keeping the public informed about important local governmental affairs.
