FOIA Request to Village of Nelson Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.
As a team at WC Wisconsin News, we are committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. On November 7, 2024, we submitted a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., for a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024.
Our role as media professionals involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We will continue our efforts in promoting transparency and accountability within our local government by keeping the public informed about important matters such as voter registration. We look forward to receiving the requested information from the Village of Nelson so that we can share it with our readership.
