Areas of western and southern Wisconsin were severely flooded following heavy rainstorms last weekend.
Some areas, like Eau Claire, saw homes partially flooded and critical roads and streets flooded and undriveable, according to WEAU News.
“A mass amount of water came through our backyard and it is flooding through our lower level windows right now,” Eau Claire resident Cassandra Carey told WEAU News of the sudden flooding. “We looked out our window and saw some massive flooding in the backyard getting closer and closer to our foundation and immediately we called friends and family they came over and helped put sand bags up on the windows.”
Thunderstorms and heavy rain on around Aug. 7 and 8 created flash floods in west central and southern Wisconsin, as well as in neighboring Minnesota, according to MPR News.
“We were just playing in the water and then when we got up we heard the windows crack,” Leo and Alex, neighborhood kids from flooded Jeffers Road, told WEAU News.
WQOW News reported that a flood warning for the La Crosse area and the Black River had been issued for Aug. 9 and 10.
