In the kickoff with Dubuque at the Roger Harring Stadium, the UW-La Crosse Eagle football team won the home opener by a score of 38-7.
The match between the UW-La Crosse Eagle football team against the University of Dubuque Spartans was held on Saturday, Sept. 11.
"Eagle Nation! What an atmosphere last night! Thank you all for supporting @UWLEagleFB! You were awesome! I know they're on the field during this video, but shout out to the UWL Screaming Eagles Marching Band! The best in the country!!! #TheExperience," Coach Matt Janus tweeted.
This game was the 900th one in the history of the program, out of which the Eagles have won 573.
The team's success was mostly attributed to their defensive line constantly stopping the Spartans momentum and preventing them from getting scoring chances. This was the team's second win in a row in a home opener. It was also the ninth straight win in a home opener dating back to 2018.
While the defense made one mistake in the second quarter, allowing Dubuque to score, the Eagles still managed to make their record 2-0 for the season.
