The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Chippewa Valley are looking to make this a summer to remember, announcing expansion plans in both Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire.

"They're all leaders, they're all providing good things, making friends," Roxie Schmidt, director of Operations of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Chippewa Valley, told WEAU.com on Friday.

Schmidt noted that the organization's four clubs are returning to "pre-pandemic drop-in mode," in which families can bring their kids to the clubs when they most need to, and kids can come and go as they please during summertime hours that run from 7:30 am until 6 pm.

The clubs recently held their Youth of the Year Gala at The Florian Gardens, where youths from Black River Falls, Chippewa Falls, Menomonie and Eau Claire shared memories of some of their most positive experiences while attending their respective clubs.

"The ability to raise funds for this event is really going to help us expand those services, build for more kids, serve kids more frequently; and as we gear up for summer we're going to be able to increase our capacity for the first time in quite some time," Schmidt told WEAU.

All four clubs are now looking for summertime help, stressing that interested individuals should enjoy being around kids and looking to make a difference in the lives of the young people.
