Bernadette Peters, known for her work in music, theater, and film, is scheduled to perform at Viterbo University on Saturday, September 6. The event will take place at the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre at 7:30 p.m.
Peters has received three Tony Awards and a Golden Globe during her career. She has also been nominated for four Emmy Awards and four Grammy Awards. Her achievements include earning a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Her recent projects include a West End debut in the Cameron Mackintosh production of "Old Friends," which celebrated Stephen Sondheim's contributions to musical theater. On Broadway, Peters has appeared in productions such as "Hello, Dolly!," "Follies," "A Little Night Music," "Song and Dance," "Annie Get Your Gun," "Gypsy," "The Goodbye Girl," "Sunday in the Park with George," "Mack and Mabel," "On The Town," and "Into the Woods."
Peters' television appearances feature roles in series like Apple TV+'s "High Desert" and NBC's "Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist." Other credits include appearances on shows such as “Smash,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Ugly Betty,” “Ally McBeal,” and the Lifetime movie “Living Proof.” In film, she has acted in over 30 movies including “Pennies From Heaven,” “The Jerk,” “The Longest Yard,” “Silent Movie,” “Annie,” “Pink Cadillac,” “Slaves of New York,” “Alice,” “Impromptu,” “It Runs in the Family,” “Coming Up Roses,” and “The Broken Hearts Gallery.”
As a recording artist, Peters has released six solo albums that include titles like I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight; Sondheim, Etc.: Bernadette Peters Live at Carnegie Hall; Bernadette Peters Loves Rodgers & Hammerstein; along with several original Broadway cast recordings.
She is also an author of three children’s books—Broadway Barks, Stella is a Star, and Stella and Charlie: Friends Forever—which have all appeared on The New York Times best-seller list. Proceeds from these books support Broadway Barks, an annual animal adoption event benefiting shelter animals in New York City and nearby areas.
