Organizers of the sesquicentennial 2022 celebration are striving to make the event a memorable one.

Officials have come up with two medallion hunts, one focusing on the “then,” or the historical context of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and the other focuses on the “now,” which deals with more recent history and developments in Eau Claire, WEAU reported.

The celebration also features the creation of two different medallion scavenger hunts, with The Clearwater Clues Medallion team partnering with the Chippewa Valley Museum to create the hunts, according to WEAU.

Known as the “then” medallion hunt, the first scavenger hunt kicked off July 4, celebrating some of the older history of Eau Claire with many clues leading participants around historical sites.

The second hunt featuring the “Now” medallion hunt, will include clues highlighting modern history, as well as significant places in Eau Claire in honor of how far the community has traveled over the last century and a half, according to WEAU. The “Now” medallion hunt begins July 11.

Each day for six consecutive days, one week for each of the two hunts, a clue will be given in a new location that leads participants across public property, according to the event’s Facebook page. Winners will receive prizes from local businesses and supporters, including sporting goods outlets, a local burrito shop, ice cream parlor, and movie theater.
