WASHINGTON, DC – On April 25, Rep. Derrick Van Orden (WI-03) proposed an amendment to the Limit, Save, Grow Act that strengthens protections for Wisconsin’s agriculture industry.
“After two years of wasteful spending under the Biden administration, we need to cut spending while protecting Wisconsin farmers,” said Van Orden. “Wisconsinites have had enough of high gas prices that are hurting families and crippling our agriculture industry. I support an all-the-above approach to American energy, and my amendment would protect the environment as well as rural Americans who rely on ethanol tax credits, nuclear power, and electrical co-ops to fuel their livelihoods and power their communities.”
Van Orden’s amendment would strike sections of the Limit, Save, Grow Act that repeal tax credits for carbon oxide sequestration, nuclear power, biodiesel, renewable diesel, and alternative fuels, biofuels like ethanol, and sustainable aviation fuel. The amendment would also strike section 245, which repeals the ability for tax-exempt entities to receive energy tax credits as direct-pay refunds.
Wisconsin is among the top ten ethanol and corn producers in the nation and among the top 20 biodiesel producers.
