WASHINGTON, DC – In case you missed it, yesterday Rep. Derrick Van Orden (WI-03) spoke in an Agriculture Committee highlighting the digital divide in rural America.
The University of Wisconsin-Madison estimates that just 63 percent of households in rural Wisconsin counties have broadband access.
As Van Orden noted, “We’ve spent $351 billion [on broadband in] the last five years, and I can’t do precision agriculture going from Crawford to Grant County, where [my constituents in attendance at the hearing] are from. This is a systemic failure of this system.”
