WASHINGTON, DC – On July 20, the House of Representatives passed the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act, which includes a Derrick Van Orden (WI-03)-backed amendment that will help ensure safety at Wisconsin’s rural airports.
“The FAA Reauthorization will help ensure safety at rural airports like those in my District,” said Van Orden. “I look forward to seeing the impact this will have on supporting jobs, promoting growth, and ensuring worker safety at airports in Wisconsin and across the nation.”
Originally introduced by Rep. Val Hoyle (OR-4), Van Orden’s cosponsored amendment requires the FAA to develop and publish safety training materials for airport ground crew workers, including supervisory employees, to help prevent accidents involving aircraft engine ingestion and jet blast hazards.
The FAA Reauthorization also includes provisions that grow the aviation workforce, invest in airport infrastructure, uphold America’s gold standard in safety, encourage innovation, and enhance passenger experience for the over 850 million passengers who fly annually.
