Cochrane-Fountain City School District welcomed 560 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 560 students enrolled in Cochrane-Fountain City School District schools in the 2022-23 school year, 0.9% more than the previous year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.8% of them were girls, and 48.2% were boys.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, accounting for 92% of the Cochrane-Fountain City School District total enrollment.

Cochrane-Fountain City School District covers two schools within Buffalo County, with its main office in Fountain City.

Among the two schools in the Cochrane-Fountain City School District, Cochrane-Fountain City Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 290 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Nearly 830,000 students were enrolled in Wisconsin schools in the 2021-22 school year. This is a 0.85% decrease from the year before. In sharp contrast to declining public school figures, enrollment in charter schools rose 4.5% to more than 52,000.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 14 students in a Wisconsin classroom, compared to the national average of 1:16. AAA State of Play considered Wisconsin to have the 14th best teacher to student ratio in the U.S.
