WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Van Orden issued a statement today following his vote to table the motion to vacate Speaker Mike Johnson. He stated, “When eight Republicans chose to vote with 208 Democrats to vacate Kevin McCarthy’s speakership, the House could not continue its important work that the American people sent us here to do like investigating President Biden’s disastrous retreat from Afghanistan that resulted in the needless deaths of 13 American servicemembers, reigning in the weaponization of federal agencies against American citizens and President Trump, and most important to my constituents, completing the Farm Bill."

Van Orden expressed his understanding of public frustration towards Congress saying, "I understand the frustration the American public has with Congress, and no one is more frustrated than I am." However, he argued that this motion would have only served Congressional Democrats' interests and diminished their ability to assist Americans grappling with issues caused by the Biden administration.
