An illegal alien who has been in the U.S. since 2016 was arrested in Abbotsford over the weekend for allegedly stabbing three people, including two children who later died.

"The suspect, identified as Victor Manuel Gomez Acosta of Abbotsford, was apprehended at the scene without further incident," Chief Alex Bowman of the Colby-Abbotsford Police Department said in a press release. "He was found inside the residence and taken into custody immediately."

After attacking the victims, the alleged perpetrator reportedly turned the knife on himself before being apprehended by police. Acosta received medical treatment for self-inflicted stab wounds before being taken into custody at the Clark County Jail. He is now facing homicide charges.

Bowman emphasized that there is currently no known threat to the public related to this incident.

"The investigation is ongoing, and we are collaborating closely with multiple agencies, including the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation," Bowman said in the release.

Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the victims, citing the sensitive nature of the investigation. However, Bowman confirmed to WQOW News 18 that there was a prior acquaintance between Acosta and the victims, although the exact nature of their relationship has not been disclosed.

Authorities have also refrained from speculating on a motive for the attack at this time.

"We understand the community's concern and assure them that we are dedicating all available resources to this investigation," Bowman said in the release. "Updates will be provided through our official channels as soon as we are able to release more information."

The Colby-Abbotsford Police Department encourages anyone with relevant information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.

Neither Bowman or Clark County Sheriff Scott Haines responded to requests for more information from WC Wisconsin News.

In response to the stabbing, U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-Wis.), representing the 7th congressional district, attributed the violence to what he described as broader immigration policy failures.

“An illegal alien tragically stabs and kills two kids in Abbotsford, Wisconsin. No town is immune from Biden’s Border Bloodbath,” Tiffany said on Facebook

“We must enforce the law and mass deport.”

The stabbing is one of several recent high profile killings connected to illegal aliens.

The Federation for American Immigration Reform tracks such crimes on its website noting in March, Mexican national Raul Benitez Santana, while intoxicated, caused a fatal crash in Washington State, killing a state trooper and had a history of arrests but remained in the U.S. illegally.

In February, Alonzo Pierre Mingo, an illegal alien with a prior firearms conviction, impersonated a delivery person and shot three people in Minnesota.

Venezuelan national Jose Ibarra was also arrested for murdering a nursing student after being released on immigration parole despite pending criminal charges.

In January, Salvadoran MS-13 gang member Nilson Granados-Trejo was involved in a drug-related shootout in Maryland that resulted in the death of a toddler, despite previous deportation orders.
