FOIA Request to Town of Durand Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.
We at WC Wisconsin News have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Town of Durand seeking details about new voter registrations. The request specifically asked for a list of voters who registered on November 5, 2024.
As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe access to public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
The request was made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., and we expressed preference for receiving the information in electronic format. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
We await the response from the Town of Durand and will continue to strive towards enhancing transparency and accountability in our local government through diligent reporting.
