A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town of Hamilton, Wisconsin, on November 7, 2024. The request was made by WC Wisconsin News, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The FOIA request specifically asked for a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024. As journalists at WC Wisconsin News, we believe that access to public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
In the letter, we also requested a fee waiver as a media professional. This is based on our role in gathering and reporting news to the public.
