A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the City of Blair regarding new voter registrations on November 7, 2024.
As a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, WC Wisconsin News is committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in public institutions. The request was made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., with a preference for an electronic format.
The specific records requested were a list of voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024. This information is critical in our efforts to provide the public with an understanding of voter turnout and participation rates during this election cycle.
As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as media professionals.
