Adalee Anne Ortiz, born to Aubrey Davis and Jon Ortiz of Sparta, was the first baby delivered at Tomah Health in 2025. She arrived on January 3 at 11:14 p.m., weighing 6 pounds 10 ounces and measuring 18½ inches long.
Aubrey Davis shared her surprise about Adalee being the first newborn of the year at Tomah Health. "I was supposed to induce the next day, and she decided to come early, and she came very fast," she said. Jon Ortiz added, "I didn’t think that we would have the first baby of the New Year because we had talked about it and after the first, we were like, ‘well, there’s got to be other babies born’." He expressed their reaction upon learning this news: "But when they told us that, we were very, very shocked and excited."
Davis described her labor as lasting about an hour before Adalee's arrival. She praised the hospital staff for their support during her stay. “All the staff was very friendly, very patient, very kind and welcoming,” she stated. Jon echoed these sentiments by saying, “The staff was amazing... making sure that we were OK at all times of the day.”
Tammie Schroeder, Director of Women’s Health at Tomah Health, reported that last year saw 273 births at the facility compared to 224 in 2023. The previous year's count included 151 boys and 122 girls. Charlotte emerged as the most popular name for girls while Hudson topped for boys.
In recognition of being Tomah Health's first baby of 2025, gifts were presented to Adalee by nurse intern Ellie Kause and licensed practical nurse Dana Freemore.
