White students were the most represented ethnic group within Pierce County schools in the 2024-25 school year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of the 7,368 students attending Pierce County schools, 88.5% were white. Hispanic students were the second largest ethnicity, making up 5.2% of Pierce County students.

In the previous school year, white students were also the most common group in Pierce County, representing 89.6% of the student body.

Countywide, Ellsworth Elementary School had the most even distribution of races, which included 87.5% white students, 6.4% Hispanic students, 5% multiracial students, 0.7% Asian students, 0.3% Black students, and 0.1% American Indian students.

In the 2024-25 school year, the total number of students enrolled in public schools in the county dropped 2% compared to the previous year.

Wisconsin ranks 22nd in the U.S. for public education spending, with an annual expenditure of over $16,500 per pupil, totaling $13.8 billion.
