Elizabeth Nesius New Dean | Western Technical College

Western Technical College has appointed Elizabeth Nesius as the new dean of the General Studies Division, according to an announcement made on Wednesday. Nesius is currently serving as the Interim Dean of Humanities, Business, and Social Sciences at Rowan College at Burlington County in New Jersey. She has held the position of associate dean in the same division since November 2019.

Nesius brings 17 years of experience in higher education, including efforts to enhance pathways for students from pre-college through bachelor's degrees at Hudson Community College in New Jersey. Rebecca Hopkins, Vice President of Learning at Western, expressed enthusiasm about Nesius joining the team. "I am excited for Elizabeth to join the Western team, bringing with her years of leadership experience at two-year institutions, including curriculum and academic support innovation," Hopkins said. "Her work on creating positive supports for students of all backgrounds will be an asset here at Western."

Nesius shared her excitement about joining Western Technical College: “I’m thrilled to join Western and bring my passion for social justice to this dynamic institution,” she stated. “I am eager to contribute to our shared vision, serve our students, and continue to foster an inclusive and equitable environment. Together, we can make meaningful change.”

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Theology from the University of Notre Dame and a Master's degree in English from the University of Rochester, New York. Additionally, she earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey and is pursuing a PhD in Education and Social Justice at Lancaster University in the UK. Her tenure at Western begins on December 9.
