Rep. Derrick Van Orden Press Office has recently published several updates on the activities and positions of Rep. Derrick Van Orden, who represents Wisconsin’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress. The tweets cover topics including military policy, educational advocacy, and his perspective on qualities essential for servicemembers.

On July 15, 2025, Rep. Van Orden's office announced that he would join his colleagues from the House Armed Services Committee Republicans to mark up the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). According to the statement, "Today, Rep. Van Orden will join his @HASCRepublicans colleagues in marking up the FY26 NDAA to ensure our military is the most lethal fighting force in the world. We are delivering on President Trump's promise to deliver peace through strength!"

Later that day, another update highlighted Rep. Van Orden's support for a project at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL). The tweet stated, "Wonderful news for @UWLaCrosse! Rep. Van Orden wrote to WI state legislators Sen. Marklein and Rep. Born advocating for the project, which will provide thousands of UWL students with a world-class learning environment to develop career-ready skills." This message emphasized efforts to enhance educational opportunities within his district.

In a third post on July 15, 2025, Rep. Van Orden referenced his experience as a former Navy SEAL while discussing key attributes required in military service members: "As a former Navy SEAL, Rep. Van Orden knows the most important qualities in a servicemember are only if they can shoot, move, and communicate. The more division that exists among our military academy students, the less lethal they will be as a unit on the battlefield."

Derrick Van Orden has served in Congress since 2023 after replacing Ron Kind as representative of Wisconsin’s 3rd District. Born in Minnesota in 1969 and currently residing in Prairie du Chien at age 53, he holds degrees from Excelsior University (BS) and Mitchell Hamline School of Law (JD).
