The City of La Crosse is set to host a Bike Rodeo on Thursday, July 24th from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Myrick Park, located at 2107 La Crosse Street. The event aims to provide fun and educational cycling activities for elementary-aged children.
This family-friendly event will offer various activities such as helmet fittings, bike safety inspections, bike registration, and a traffic-skills obstacle course. The course is designed to teach young participants skills like signaling, cornering, braking, and navigating intersections safely.
Admission to the Bike Rodeo is free and open to the public. It specifically targets elementary-aged kids who are encouraged to bring their bikes and helmets. While parking is available at Myrick Park, attendees are encouraged to cycle to the event.
The Bike Rodeo is organized through a partnership between the City of La Crosse Planning and Development Department, City of La Crosse Parks and Recreation Department, and the La Crosse County Safe Routes to School program. Additional participants include the La Crosse Public Library, Drift Cycle, and the La Crosse Police Department.
In case of bad weather, updates about potential cancellations will be posted on the City of La Crosse website in the news section as well as on social media pages for both the Planning and Development Department and Parks and Recreation.
