Congressman Derrick Van Orden of Wisconsin’s Third District welcomed Vice President JD Vance to the area, where the vice president visited to discuss recent legislative developments. The visit centered on the One, Big, Beautiful Bill, which Congressman Van Orden described as significant for both local residents and the nation.

“It is an honor to have Vice President Vance in Wisconsin’s Third District. The One, Big, Beautiful Bill is a historic piece of legislation that gets rid of the death tax for our farmers, secures a $500,000,000 plus up for rural healthcare and $1 billion for BadgerCare, provides our seniors with a $6,000 tax deduction, and cuts taxes on tips and overtime. This is how we bring back jobs, bring costs down for families, and continue building America’s future under the leadership of President Trump and Vice President Vance,” said Van Orden.

The bill includes several other measures such as making permanent and increasing the Small Business Tax Deduction to 23%, expanding 529 education savings accounts, eliminating taxes on Social Security for seniors, raising the dairy Tier I cap to 6 million pounds, providing funding to secure the southern border, and investing in domestic energy production.

Derrick Van Orden has been serving as U.S. Representative for Wisconsin’s 3rd district since 2023 after replacing Ron Kind. In previous elections, he won against Brad Pfaff in 2022 with just over half of the vote and defeated Rebecca Cooke in 2024 by a similar margin.
