Rep. Ron Kind of Wisconsin’s Third Congressional District was awarded the Jefferson-Hamilton Award for Bipartisanship.
The Eau Claire Chamber recognized Kind as earning a 96% score to receive the bipartisanship award.
Kind was one of 22 House members who received the award and recognition for their efforts.
"Yesterday I met with the @ecareachamber where I was honored to be awarded the Jefferson-Hamilton Award for Bipartisanship and visited the Boys & Girls Club and Ramone's Ice Cream Parlor to discuss how the Child Tax Credit will help families across Wisconsin. Thanks to everyone who came out," Kind said in a post to his Twitter account on July 13.
The scoring is based on cosponsored bills with a member of the opposite political party, along with the general effort to reach between aisles for the betterment of the community. The award was given to Kind at a July 12 ceremony at Chippewa Valley Technical College.
Sponsorship of bills opposed by the Eau Claire Chamber are not counted toward receiving the award. The top-ranked members from both parties automatically receive a 100% score. Kind is aligned with the New Democrat Coalition, which identifies as centrist. At the ceremony, Kind was thanked by VES Environmental Solutions.
