Chippewa Valley Technical College recently issued the following announcement.

The grant money will be used to develop and expand flexible, accessible and innovative dual enrollment opportunities for rural and underserved students.

The U.S. Department of Education announced that Chippewa Valley Technical College has received money from the two-year, Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund grant, which will be used to develop and expand flexible, accessible and innovative dual enrollment opportunities for rural and underserved students, facilitating progression through career pathways and into the workforce.

“As educators, we want to see opportunities for all. This generous funding will further help us create those opportunities for potential students in rural and underserved areas,” said Sunem Beaton-Garcia, CVTC President. “CVTC will develop and deliver high school dual enrollment academies, facilitate better access for rural high school students, provide additional supportive services to underserved populations and provide maximum flexibility for a potential shift to virtual learning again if necessary.”

Nearly 200 students from rural high schools and 50 from disadvantaged backgrounds are expected to enroll in the academies, which will include career and college exploration in business management and health care.

"I'm glad to see Chippewa Valley Technical College receive this grant through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund," said Rep. Ron Kind. "This funding will help CVTC build back stronger than ever from the COVID-19 crisis and continue to provide the next generation with the top tier training they need to compete in fast-growing fields."
