Republican congressional candidate, Derrick Van Orden, is going face to face with the people he wants to hear his message.

“Biden’s policies are crushing everyday Americans,” he said in a tweet Monday. “Remember in November.”

Van Orden, a father of four children, is running for a seat in the 3rd Congressional District, WQOW reported. He recently made a campaign stop in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to meet with small business owners where he discussed the economy and inflation.

"We have to reinvigorate the ability for America to become energy independent," Van Orden told WQOW. "So, every time when you plant something in the field, it takes diesel, when you harvest it, it takes diesel, to get it to a processing facility, same thing. To run the processing facility, same thing. We have to lower energy costs."

Van Orden said increasing inflation and the overall downturn of the economy is a byproduct of President Joe Biden and his energy policies, WQOW reported. He said, for supply chain issues and inflation rates to be adequately addressed the country must become more energy independent.

A retired Navy SEAL with 26 years of service, Van Orden is running for the seat now held by Rep. Ron Kind, who recently announced he will not seek reelection, according to WQOW.
