Western Technical College has been recognized as a top performer in the 2022 Sustainable Campus Index, achieving top-10 status for energy reduction among all colleges and universities, as well as top-10 for overall sustainability performance among associate colleges.
The index, which is released by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), looks at factors like energy use, sustainability-related curriculum, and campus engagement. Western ranks ninth overall in top performance among associate colleges.
“Over the past decade plus, Western has worked hard to become a more sustainable, resilient organization. It’s nice to receive national recognition for our work,” said Western President Roger Stanford. “We’re continuously looking for meaningful ways to incorporate sustainability into what we do whether it’s in our operations, our curricula, or our campus life.”
