FOIA Request Sent to Trempealeau County Regarding Access to Public Records on October 7, 2024

FOIA Request to Trempealeau County Regarding Access to Public Records on October 7, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at WC Wisconsin News have formally requested access to specific public records from Trempealeau County. The request was made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., and we have asked for these records in an electronic format for ease of access and review.

The records we are seeking include a list of FOIA logs that were sent to the county from January 1, 2024, until October 7, 2024. The specific fields we are interested in examining are the requester's name, their organization, the content of their request, the date of their request, the date when their request was completed, and the status of their FOIA request.

As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential for us. It allows us to fulfill our professional responsibilities effectively and efficiently.

We believe that as a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we should be eligible for a fee waiver. We eagerly await a response from Trempealeau County regarding our request and will continue striving towards greater transparency in local government affairs.
