FOIA Request to Pepin County Regarding Access to FOIA Logs from January to October 2024 on October 7, 2024.
As a part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at WC Wisconsin News have submitted a request for records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq. We are seeking access to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) logs sent to Pepin County from January 1, 2024, till October 7, 2024.
The requested records include specific fields such as the requester's name and organization, content of the request, date of the request and its completion date, as well as the status of the FOIA request.
As media professionals engaged in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to these public records is crucial for us. It enables us not only in holding public institutions accountable but also in ensuring transparency for our readership. In light of our role in disseminating information, we believe we qualify for a fee waiver as a media professional.
