Congressman Derrick Van Orden has announced that the Dairy Business Innovation (DBI) Initiative program funds, which were previously paused, have been released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The DBI Initiative is designed to support dairy businesses in various aspects including development, production, marketing, and distribution.
This funding release follows recent discussions between Congressman Van Orden, Elon Musk, and Secretary Rollins about the importance of maintaining critical agricultural programs.
“I will always fight for our farmers,” said Rep. Van Orden. “I am thrilled that USDA has resumed DBI Initiatives funding, which is crucial to the success and well-being of Wisconsin’s dairy industry. Our dairy farmers and processors work incredibly hard, and I commend Secretary Rollins for her swift action to ensure its continuation.”
Rebekah Sweeney from the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association expressed gratitude towards Congressman Van Orden's efforts. She stated, “Congressman Derrick Van Orden’s leadership was not just influential - but essential - to the expeditious release of Dairy Business Innovation Initiatives funding this week.” She further thanked him for ensuring that farmers' voices were heard at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Gregg Doud from the National Milk Producers Federation also acknowledged the importance of this initiative. He said, “We are grateful to Secretary Rollins and the team at USDA for moving forward with funding for the Dairy Business Innovation Initiatives program.” He praised Representative Van Orden for his advocacy in supporting this important program.
Adam Warthesen from Organic Valley highlighted the economic impact of American dairy on rural communities and credited Representative Van Orden for ensuring USDA resources are honored. “We at Organic Valley appreciate his efforts along with other Wisconsin dairy champions in advancing the Dairy Business Innovation Initiative both today and into the future,” he added.
