The University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF) Music and Stage and Screen Arts Department is set to present the play “The Glass Menagerie” by Tennessee Williams from October 15 to 19. The performances will take place at the Blanche Davis Theatre, located in Kleinpell Fine Arts at 420 E. Cascade Ave., River Falls.
“The Glass Menagerie,” considered a significant work in American theater, tells the story of Tom Wingfield and his family during the Great Depression. The narrative centers on Tom, who feels torn between his responsibilities and personal ambitions; his mother Amanda, who holds onto memories of her past; and his sister Laura, who finds comfort in her collection of glass animals. The arrival of a gentleman caller brings hope for change within the family.
The cast includes UWRF students: Ryan Bartley as Tom Wingfield, Olivia Denninger as Amanda Wingfield, Adrienne Quinlan as Laura Wingfield, and Maxwell Labriola as Jim O’Connor. Kathy Welch directs the production with scenic design by Kyle Gettelman.
Performances are scheduled for Wednesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m., with a Sunday matinee at 2:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at uwrfmusasa.vbotickets.com/events or at the box office one hour before each show.
“This unique production will be brought to life under the artistic direction of UWRF faculty,” according to organizers.
