Tomah Health Community Foundation has extended support to Tomah Parks & Recreation through a $2,500 donation aimed at improving the Recreation Station in Tomah. The ceremonial check was presented by foundation board member Kyle VonHaden and president Brian Eirschele to Tomah Parks & Recreation director Joe Protz and Recreation Station aide Jen Adler on April 17. This contribution will aid in acquiring additional equipment, particularly for a special area designed for children aged 6 months to 2 years, allowing them to play with their family members.
The facility, a renovated former Tomah North Side Fire Station, serves children aged 5 and under as an open gym play area. Joe Protz emphasized the popularity and success of the facility, particularly during colder months when families seek indoor options for children to remain active. The facility also hosts children's birthday parties and various themed events for families.
Brian Eirschele, president of the foundation, highlighted that the donation aligns with the foundation's mission to support not-for-profit organizations enhancing health and wellness in Monroe County. He expressed satisfaction in contributing to local initiatives with a clear need for community support.
Future plans include enhancing energy efficiency and expanding offerings at the Recreation Station. These developments aim to provide more opportunities for healthy activities for children. The station operates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with additional hours for special events.
