On May 12, 2025, Rep. Van Orden announced the release of Edan Alexander, who had been held hostage by Hamas for 550 days. He expressed gratitude towards the Trump administration for securing Alexander's release, stating "Edan Alexander is finally coming home. Thank you to the Trump administration for securing his release after being held hostage by Hamas for 550 days."
Later that day, Van Orden commented on a new trade agreement with China, highlighting its significance in addressing longstanding issues related to trade practices. He praised President Biden's efforts in this regard by stating "Trade agreement with China After decades of unfair trade practices, @POTUS is standing up to China and delivering real results that put American consumers and businesses first!"
On May 13, 2025, during National Police Week, Rep. Van Orden took a moment to acknowledge law enforcement officers across the nation. Derrick Van Orden has been serving Wisconsin's 3rd District since replacing Ron Kind in 2023. Born in Minnesota in 1969 and now residing in Prairie du Chien, he holds a BS from Excelsior University and a JD from Mitchell Hamline School of Law.
