Today, Congressman Derrick Van Orden from Wisconsin's 3rd District expressed his support for the passage of the One, Big, Beautiful Bill. In a statement following his vote, Van Orden emphasized the significance of this legislative action.
"This bill takes great strides in fulfilling the mandate that was given to President Trump by 77 million Americans," he stated. "Without this bill, Wisconsinites would have seen a 25% tax hike. As the Democrats spent time fearmongering with lies that this bill will cut benefits, Republicans got the job done by delivering tax savings and benefit protections for the American people."
The One, Big, Beautiful Bill is designed to address several key issues affecting Americans. It aims to restore integrity in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) by ensuring states are accountable for their error rates and directing benefits to those most in need. The legislation also seeks to prevent what it describes as the largest potential tax increase in American history by eliminating taxes on tips and overtime while offering tax relief to seniors, job creators, small businesses, and farmers.
Additionally, the bill proposes increasing the dairy tier I cap and investing in agricultural research. It also focuses on bolstering trade promotion and strengthening the farm safety net. Another critical aspect of the bill is its commitment to strengthening, securing, and sustaining Medicaid for vulnerable populations.
